At the heart of Christianity is the gospel. The word “gospel” means good news that is announced.  We are so lost and broken that we cannot fix ourselves, so God came to us in human flesh in the person of Jesus. The gospel is the announcement of the good news about Jesus.  Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and one with God the Father. And Jesus made one-central claim,

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6

Jesus makes it plain there is a Father God. And, He makes it clear that there is one way to that Father God – through Him. Jesus didn’t say he was “a” way, or “a” truth but the way, the truth and the life. And, Jesus said that no one can know God; no one can enter into a relationship with God apart from Jesus.

Jesus died in our place so that we could be reconciled to God and enjoy a relationship with Him. We cannot earn salvation; we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith in His son, Jesus Christ.

Next Steps

Those who trust in Jesus Christ are forgiven and made new. Following Jesus means living for Him, obeying Him and believing His promises. If you believe the gospel we would encourage you to:

  1. Contact us so we can tell you more about Jesus.
  2. Starting praying to God. Just speak from your heart. God will listen.
  3. Read the Bible. We encourage you to start with one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John). If you need a copy of the Bible contact us.
  4. Join a Christian church where the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection is believed and the Bible is taught.

If you live here in the St. John’s area, we would love for you to join our church. At Elim, we believe that everyone should be invited – and supported – into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
